RECRUIT
LQUOM is seeking new team members.
We look forward to receiving your application.
Employment Conditions
- Position
- Researcher / Optical Engineer
- Job Description
- As a member of LQUOM, you will engage in the development of quantum communication systems and their applications through collaborative research with the Horikiri Laboratory at Yokohama National University. You will contribute to a broad range of activities, from research and development to system implementation and commercialization, with the goal of bringing cutting-edge technologies into practical applications.
- Examples of Research & Development
-
Experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable.
-
Development of optical systems including quantum memories based on rare-earth-doped crystals, entangled photon sources, and laser phase synchronization.
-
Development of digital and analog control systems for improving the stability and performance of optical systems.
-
Miniaturization and modularization of quantum repeater systems.
-
Theoretical research on quantum repeater protocols and performance enhancement.
-
Theoretical studies on applications such as quantum key distribution (QKD) and distributed quantum computing using quantum communication.
-
- Requirements

【Researcher】
Required (at least one of the following)
Experience in quantum technologies (experimental or theoretical), laser-based optical or condensed matter experiments, development of integrated measurement and control systems, condensed matter experiments using magnetic fields, or implementation and commercialization of proof-of-concept technologies.
Preferred Skills
(Experimental)
Ph.D. in optics or a related field, interferometers, optical cavities, nonlinear optics, quantum memories, photonic crystals, laser stabilization and phase locking, magnetic field systems, cryogenic experiments, feedback control, FPGA/DSP, analog circuit design, system modularization and miniaturization, mechanical design, and team management.
(Theoretical)
Theory of quantum memory materials (e.g. rare-earth-doped crystals), quantum information theory, quantum communication protocols, implementation of quantum key distribution (QKD), and distributed quantum computing.
【Optical Engineer】
Required
Experience in optical and electrical system evaluation, 3D CAD, and preparation of detailed engineering documentation. We are looking for engineers who can transform laboratory technologies into robust commercial products and produce clear technical specifications.
Details
Experience in the design and evaluation of optical and electrical systems, as well as proficiency in 3D CAD, is required. We particularly value candidates who can transform research-stage technologies into commercial products. Applicants should be able to analyze unstable phenomena and create reproducible drawings and technical documentation. Rather than pursuing maximum performance alone, we value engineers who can identify practical implementation solutions while balancing cost, stability, and manufacturability through quantitative analysis and continuous improvement. A master’s degree is required. - Work Location
