~ Total funding reaches JPY 1.23 billion, exceeding initial target with oversubscription ~
LQUOM Inc. (Headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan; CEO: Kazuya Niizeki; hereinafter “LQUOM”) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the second close of its Series B funding round. As a result, total funding for the Series B round has reached JPY 1.23 billion, exceeding the initial target and achieving an oversubscribed close.
In this second close, Nissay Capital Co., Ltd., MPower Partners, and SCREEN Holdings Co., Ltd. joined as new investors. This further strengthens LQUOM’s shareholder base and enhances its ability to accelerate the social implementation of quantum repeater technologies from financial, industrial, and global network perspectives.
■Background and Progress
LQUOM has been advancing technological development and real-world validation to establish the quantum internet as next-generation infrastructure. The quantum internet is expected to serve both as a secure communication platform for post-quantum cryptography and as a distributed computing infrastructure connecting geographically dispersed quantum devices.
Through the development of quantum repeater technologies that preserve and regenerate quantum information over long distances, LQUOM is building a secure network foundation for quantum cryptography. At the same time, the company is advancing research to enable distributed quantum computing by interconnecting multiple quantum systems.
These efforts go beyond basic research, incorporating real-world validation and industry collaboration to enhance readiness for practical implementation. The Series B round marks a key milestone in transitioning these achievements into commercialization.
Recently, LQUOM was selected to receive funding support from NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), demonstrating steady progress in securing external funding and advancing public research projects. These developments are further accelerating the social implementation of next-generation quantum network infrastructure technologies.
LQUOM views the oversubscription of its Series B round as a strong vote of confidence from the market in its technological progress and tangible advancement toward commercialization.
■Use of Funds
Following the completion of the second close, LQUOM will further accelerate the following initiatives:
- Advancement of research and development to improve the performance and reliability of quantum repeaters
- Expansion of demonstration experiments in domestic and international testbeds
- Strengthening partnerships for the implementation of quantum communication networks
- Expansion of business infrastructure with a focus on global markets
The quantum internet is expected to serve as a core infrastructure for secure information and communication in the future. LQUOM will continue to translate its research achievements into real-world applications and contribute to the development of next-generation communication networks through the social implementation of quantum repeater technologies.

LQUOM is a quantum technology startup from Yokohama National University developing quantum communication systems, quantum repeaters, and related technologies to realize the Quantum Internet. As the performance of quantum computers improves, current encryption algorithms may become vulnerable to decryption. To counter this threat, quantum communication technologies offering theoretically unbreakable security are essential. For long-distance, secure communication, repeaters are necessary. Quantum repeaters dedicated to quantum communication are indispensable to realize the Quantum Internet, and LQUOM possesses the core technologies required for their development. Through the development of entanglement-based quantum repeater systems, LQUOM aims to bring the Quantum Internet—a secure next-generation network—into practical use.
